This YouTuber Ate Bodybuilder Ronnie Coleman’s Diet for a Day

Fresh off of challenges where he followed the extreme diets of Hollywood celebrities and athletes like Mark Wahlberg and LeBron James, YouTuber Aseel Soueid took on the meal plan used by legendary bodybuilder Ronnie Coleman back in the day. Will the challenge turn out to be, to borrow Coleman’s catchphrase, nothin’ but a peanut? Well, with over 5,000 calories to consume over the course of six protein-packed meals, Aseel is in for a bout of the meat sweats if nothing else.

He starts off with a breakfast of egg white omelet, cheesy grits, and black coffee. “I’m already genuinely afraid,” he says. “Who in the world starts off their day with two cups of grits?” Aseel follows this with a pre-workout meal of a banana and a whey protein shake before hitting the gym. Then, workout complete, he has the same again, adding two spoonfuls of peanut butter to the shake this time for even more protein.

The fourth meal of the day is two seared chicken breasts with white rice two cups of rice and red beans, and two slices of toast. “This diet is no joke,” he says. “I’m already pretty stuffed to be honest from the first three meals.” He adds that he batch-booked all of the chicken for this challange as a time-saving measure, because boy, does Ronnie Coleman eat a lot of chicken.

Meal #5 is two more chicken breasts, with a large baked potato. “I have no idea how Ronnie Coleman can eat this much,” he says. “These potatoes get me every time for these die challenges, it’s always the baked potato that’s my biggest downfall… This is absolute torture right now.”

But he still has one more meal left before the challenge is over: a 9-ounce sirloin steak, another chicken breast, fries, and and another baked potato. “None of this tastes good whatsoever right now,” he says, that’s how full he is. “One thing I’ve noticed about Ronnie Coleman’s diet is that it doesn’t consist of much vegetables,” he adds.

“This was no joke. It honestly was definitely one of the hardest challenges that I have ever done,” he says at the end of the day. “Eating like Ronnie Coleman isn’t going to make you look like him. It’s not, believe me. You need to figure out your own calories and macros…
