Just like you, your pet relies on a good diet to stay healthy and fit. The choices you make when it comes to pet food really do matter.

“Dogs and cats need to meet mineral and vitamin requirements, as well as energetic needs,” Dr. Joseph Wakshlag, a professor in the department of clinical sciences at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, tells Yahoo Life. “What they they eat is important to maintaining health.”

The right diet “plays a significant role in the management of a variety of diseases,” Dr. Valerie Parker, associate professor of small animal internal medicine and nutrition at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, tells Yahoo Life. “Complete and balanced diets” are important.

How do you make the right picks? Take into account your pet’s weight and daily caloric needs, as well as its life stage. Buying from a brand that’s candid about ingredients—and that employs a full-time, qualified nutritionist—is also smart, says Parker.

You can start right now. Walmart has a new service called Walmart+ that offers same-day delivery (with a $35 minimum) on pet food, groceries and more. Yes, you read that right: same-day delivery. It’s a perfect opportunity to try out a new pet food plan for your beloved dog or cat.

Try the 15-day Walmart+ free trial membership, then continue for just $12.95 a month (or $98 a year). You can sign up online, and you’re good to go.

Whether you’re interested in new grub or just want to stock up on a tried-and-true favorite, the foods below all meet veterinarian criteria. And, with the help of Walmart+, you can have them at your doorstep quicker than you can say “Chow time!”
