promotional campaign called “Just Add A Vegetable.”

The campaign goal is be to encourage people to increase their vegetable intake by marrying their favorite foods with a variety of veggies.

Shoppers had an opportunity to win a basket of fresh produce, learn how to combine vegetables with the foods that they already love, and chat with a nutrition expert

“It seems to be a challenge as compared to some of the other foods that we encourage as part of a healthy diet for people getting inadequate vegetable to their diet,” said Susan Cooper, a registered dietician.

She said that most people already know they should include more vegetables in their diet, and that nutrition experts can help shoppers devise strategies to address common challenges.

Among them:

  • How to shop wisely for vegetables to minimize food costs.
  • How to meal plan to minimize spoiled produce, and thus, food waste.
  • How to combine vegetable with your favorite foods to improve the taste appeal of vegetables.
  • How to introduce vegetables to family members who make grumpy faces when they see green things on the plate.

The next event will be at Super 1 on 10th Avenue South on December 4 from 11am – 4pm.
